Intro and Guidlines

Welcome to [info]aph_historyswap! This is an exchange for Hetalia fanworks that are historically based.

How It Works
This exchange will work on a reversathon format, also known as a choose your own author/artist format. It will also be an anonymous exchange.

1. All participants provide information about what they like and don't like to write or draw.

2. I post ads based on this information.

3. Each participant chooses up to five ads and makes a prompt specific to each.

4. I go through all the requests and make sure that each participant has a request, then send out assignments.

5. Participants send their finished works to me. Anyone who finishes before deadline is more than free to ask for the other requests they have received and to create works for those as well!

6. I post the finished works over a set time period (the exact length determined by the number of fanworks created for this exchange).

7. The big reveal!

Schedule
Saturday, May 22, 2010: Sign-ups end.
Tuesday, May 25, 2010, 0:00 GMT: Ads posted by this time.
Thursday, May 27, 2010, 0:00 GMT: Requesting period begins.
Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 0:00 GMT: Requesting period ends.
Sunday, June 6, 2010, 0:00 GMT: Assignments sent out by this time.
Monday, August 16, 2010, 0:00 GMT: All works due!
Saturday, August 21, 2010: Posting begins!

Rules
1. All participants must be at least thirteen years of age to participate. Anyone who requests or offers explicit material must be at least eighteen. If I find out that you are under eighteen and requesting or offering explicit fanworks, I will ban you. It's a matter of legality, nothing personal.

2. If you sign up, you are agreeing to produce as well as request fic/art. You cannot request if you have not signed up to offer something as well.

3. All work produced must:

-Have a strong basis in history. If your work can be transferred to any other time period without upsetting much of the content, then it will not qualify. (For example, 'period' smut.)

-Be at least 1000 words long in the case of fic (there is no upper limit) or be finished to a good standard in the case of art.

-Be checked thoroughly for spelling, punctuation, and grammar if it's fic and preferably checked thoroughly by a beta whether it's fic or art.

-Be a new, complete fanwork, not a previously existing piece or part of an ongoing series.

4. If you have any questions for your recipient, please contact me, and I will pass on the message.

5. Do not reveal your identity in any way before the end of the exchange. This includes posting your work anywhere else before the reveal and replying to the work(s) created for you and to comments left on the work(s) you did under any lj name that is affiliated with you before the reveal.

Submissions
1. Works are due by Monday, August 16, 2010, 0:00 GMT and should be e-mailed to aph.historyswap at gmail dot com as an attachment.

2. If you are submitting fic, the fic should already be coded. .doc, .rtf, and .txt are all acceptable formats - the fic being ready for posting is the important part.

3. Please include the following information in your e-mail:

Author/Artist: (for my records only)
Title:
Recipient:
Prompt:
Pairing/Characters:
Rating:
Warnings: (if any)
Summary:
Notes: (if any)

4. If you are submitting art, you may also submit a teaser image up to 300x300.

5. I will return any work that breaks a rule, does not match the assignment, or is not done to a good quality.

Dropping Out and Extensions
1. Please notify me immediately if you need to drop out for any reason.

2. If you need an extension, please contact me as soon as possible, and I will give you one at my discretion. If you still cannot complete your work even with the extension, let me know asap.

3. If you do not notify me and do not submit your work by deadline, you will be marked as a defaulter and banned from future rounds of this exchange unless you give me a very good reason. I will also pass along your name should anyone else who wants to host an exchange in this fandom request it.

Pinch-Hitting
If you are interested in pinch-hitting for this exchange, I've created a google group for pinch-hitters. I will send out pinch-hitting requests whenever someone drops out. If one of the prompts look interesting, just e-mail me back, and the first person who claims it gets it. I will respond to your e-mail and let you know whether the prompt is yours or not.

I will also give you the deadline for the pinch-hit in my reply to you. The deadline will be determined by how close it is to the general deadline, how many works total have been created, and how you are progressing on your assignment.

Any questions and concerns can be either left as a comment on this post or e-mailed to aph.historyswap at gmail dot com. I recommend all participants follow this comm in order to keep up-to-date!

What format do you want fics to be sent in? .doc, .txt, or something different?

.doc, .txt, and .rtf are all fine, as long as you've got everything coded the way you would want it to show up when posted. :)

What's a beta supposed to check in a fanart? The historical accuracy or the artistic quality?

Well, really, anything! It's always good to have someone look over a work before posting it, generally - I don't expect that most people may be able to find a beta who can check historical accuracy (though that would be nice), but a beta can definitely at least find inadvertent goofs and the like.

I know this might be a stupid question but.... is there going to be an another round like a winter round and a spring round? The reason I'm asking this because I'm under 13.

Not a stupid question! :) There will be another round, either next spring or next summer. I hope you'll join in then! ♥
